The 2023 Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance arrives as the latest plug-in hybrid sports sedan from the German brand. The result is the most powerful S-Class ever offered by the automaker.

Plug-in hybrid

The heart of the S 63 E Performance is a 4.0-liter Biturbo V8 and an electric motor mounted on the rear axle. The total output is 791 horsepower and 1,430 Newton meters. This accelerates the sedan to 96 kilometers per hour in about 3.2 seconds.

The electric motor has a continuous output of 94 hp. A peak of 188 hp is available for 10-second integrations. Maximum torque is 320 Nm. There is a two-speed gearbox that shifts into second gear at around 140 km/h.

The powertrain consists of a nine-speed automatic transmission that sends power to an all-wheel-drive system. The rear axle has 2.5 degrees of steering.

The S 63 E Performance looks a bit more aggressive than a normal S-Class. The grille features a series of vertical air vents. The AMG emblem is located on the nose tip in a mix of chrome and black. The lower fascia has large openings at the outer ends. At the rear, four trapezoidal tailpipes are separated by a diffuser.

Inside, there is room for four. The MBUX infotainment system receives specific displays for AMG and hybrid powertrain functions. A head-up display is also standard. The steering wheel controls allow you to choose between four brake regenerative modes.
